About Our Program

Ramey Stairs is highly involved in the education of future lawyers. Each semester, three to five local law students are selected to participate in a stringent volunteer internship program at the firm.

Students excelling in academics and demonstrating an exceptional aptitude for performance in a law practice are invted to apply to serve as a law clerk. Assigned to work closely with their supervising attorney, law clerks serve much the same function and many of the same duties as an attorney.

Law clerks are not attorneys, and cannot provide legal advice. This informaiton is provided to assist our clients in better knowing those who serve in our practice.

Law Students

If you are a law student and interested in applying for a law clerk position, you must first complete an internship through the externship department of your educational institution. If necessary, we are available to assist you with the process.

The number of law clerk positions is limited each academic year, and selection criterion are rigorous. Absent demonstration of extraordinary skills or abilities, we consider only those candidates demonstrating exceptional academic excellence, proven legal writing skills, and notable social contributions and involvement. At minimum, you must be a 2L, in good academic standing, and be eligible for certification by the California State Bar.
